As one of the largest cities in Pakistan, Karachi faces huge challenges in waste disposal. In order to improve waste management, the Karachi Municipal Government has cooperated with several private companies to start mixed waste sorting and recycling in multiple areas. Some waste sorting centers in Karachi have begun to use advanced screening and sorting equipment, which has effectively improved the waste sorting and recycling rate.

Lahore City Lahore has also implemented some mixed waste sorting projects, especially in the industrial areas of the city. By introducing mechanized sorting equipment, Lahore City is able to recover a large amount of paper and plastic from mixed waste, reducing the amount of waste landfilled.

Although Pakistan still faces many challenges in waste sorting and sorting, with the advancement of technology, the implementation of policies and the improvement of people’s environmental awareness, it is expected to gradually improve the mixed waste treatment system in the future and promote sustainable development.
